Report urges Greece sue Germany over WWII reparations
A
Greek parliamentary report will recommend Germany be sued for 269
billion euros ($300.33 billion) in WWII reparations if diplomatic
efforts to get paid fail. The intra-party committee was up to look
into the claims and finished its work on July 27 and due to file its
report in early September, Kathimerini said.
According
to German magazine Der Spiegel, the 77-page report recommends that
Greece employs diplomatic means to persuade Germany but doesn’t
rule out legal action if that fails.
Prime
Minister and Radical Left SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras has continued
to press Greece’s case although Germany has disregarded previous
requests from earlier governments.
